What is an extruder:

An extruder is a kind of equipment for processing extruded food, such as rice, corn, soybeans, wheat, etc. in daily life. Its main working principle is to convert mechanical energy into thermal energy, and use the heat generated when the machine rotates to press and cook the food. The most obvious feature of the extruded food is that the volume becomes larger.

What is the use of an extruder?

The diverse functions of the extruder make it widely used in ingredients, food and industry. Based on the extruder (dry method, warm method, single screw or twin screw), we introduce one or a group of functions in the extrusion process. These functions are,

Coagulation: During the extrusion process, food or feed raw materials can be tightly combined and condensed into discrete small pieces.

Degassing: Food or feed raw materials containing bubbles will be degassed during the extrusion process.

Dehydration: During the puffing process of general food or feed, the water content will lose 4%-7% of the original basis

Expansion: The operating conditions and configuration of the extruder can control the density (such as sinking or floating) of pet food and aquatic feed

Gelation: Puffing cooking can gelatinize starch (from various sources, such as tubers or grains) during the processing of food or pet feed.

Grinding: During the processing of food or feed, the raw materials can be ground to a certain extent in the extruder.

Homogenization: The homogenization of the extruder changes the structure of unattractive raw materials into a more acceptable form.

Mixing: During the puffing process, various extruders have a variety of rods to choose from, which can make the extruder produce the desired mixing amount

Pasteurization and sterilization: During the puffing process of food or feed, the raw materials can be pasteurized or sterilized using puffing technology.
